Reflection on a whole year of blogging

WordPress Happy Anniversary Badge

It has now been a whole year since I began blogging.  In fact just over a year. Where has that year gone?  Time certainly flies as you get older! Continue reading

Give and Take – A post about the contrast of two things – or several two things!

The chink of cups, the coffee grinder, the gush of boiling water into a teapot, general chit chat going on all around.  I am waiting for a friend to arrive.  I am exhausted from the sleepless nights I have had tossing and turning because of the pain, however I have made it here today, to spend some time with a friend.  This is most difficult to do especially when everything takes so much more energy than it used to.

Here she is, she has just arrived, flouncing in with her pretty dress on and summer high heels, looking beautiful as ever – make up perfect, nails done, and not a hair out of place.  Late as usual, hey I don’t mind at least I have been able to sit and wait just inside the cafe.  Continue reading

A character study of a brilliant medical professional

An air of confidence, walking upright and proud.  This is a man I have met several times over the last 6 years.  With my first encounter I was so pleased to have found someone with so much knowledge and experience about my pain condition, CRPS.  Someone who understood what was going on with me, had empathy.  Such a caring nature and one that instantly put me at ease – a good bedside manner so to speak, very relaxed, not imposing or brutal, just very gentle, kind and knowledgeable. Be Brief – The Letter

The writing 101 prompt for this assignment was you stumble upon a random letter on the path. You read it. It affects you deeply, and you wish it could be returned to the person to which it’s addressed. Write a story about this encounter.

I found this letter I wanted to return.

However, so that everyone can learn

I thought this letter needed a share.

It’s about CRPS, a disorder that is rare.

To raise awareness is now my plight

After living with this illness day and night.

Serially lost – My little blue car

Writing 101 assignment today is called Serially Lost – something or someone that was part of your life but not anymore – to reflect on how it felt, why it happened, and what changed because of it.

I found I had lots to write about loss or something lost, what should I choose – the list is kind of long with all the usual suspects for a topic of this nature.  Then it struck me after a conversation at work today about my upcoming tall ship adventure – I would write about my little blue car!  Continue reading

My three songs – plus some!

Today’s Writing 101 assignment stumped me for a short while.  I have never been good at plucking my best 3 songs, or best 3 reads or best of anything out of thin air, nor the most important in that respect either.  I am able to to tell you the most important people in my life – I won’t name them here as that would be unfair to them but in general they are my immediate and close family – this includes those that are still with us and those that have sadly passed away over the years, and a handful of very close friends.  Of course, two of the most important people in my life include my husband and son.

Moving on to the assignment in hand; after reading the brief several times over and still reading ‘the best songs’ and not ‘important songs’ for most of those times – I was able to finally narrow my extensive song list down to three – well kind of three!  Read on to find out more.  Continue reading

A room with a view

To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

There is a beautiful isolated silence in this place of mysterious stunning beauty.  Though it is so beautiful, it is also very foreboding being one of the most severe natural environments on Earth.  There is a unique danger that lurks in this place where temperatures can drop to -80°C that make you truly respect the wonderful elements of this amazing place and those that have visited and explored here.  Continue reading
